Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Day 1 Training for SpEd Paras and Teachers (PAID)- in person

This will be a 2 day training (Please sign up for both days) on what ABA is and how to use ABA strategies for both direct therapy and as part of classroom instruction. This two day, paid training is open to both SpEd Paras and SpEd Teachers. It will be in the Lakeland Village MPR. There will be breakfast snacks/coffee and lunch served. Please contact Wendy Enochs by 7/27 with any special dietary needs.

This day will cover a myriad of topics, including the following:

1) Introduction to Inclusive Education:
a) This topic provides an overview of the principles and benefits of inclusive education, emphasizing the importance of providing equal opportunities for students with disabilities in secondary education settings.

2) Legislation and Policies:
a) Participants will gain an understanding of the legal framework and policies that govern inclusive education, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

3) Understanding Disabilities:
a) This topic explores various disabilities commonly encountered in secondary education, enabling participants to develop a comprehensive understanding of the unique needs and challenges associated with each disability.

4) Universal Design for Learning (UDL):
a) Participants will learn about UDL principles and strategies that promote inclusivity by providing multiple means of representation, engagement, and expression to accommodate diverse learners.

5) Individualized Education Program (IEP) Development:
a) This topic focuses on the development and implementation of IEPs, personalized plans that outline specific accommodations and support services for students with disabilities.

6) Differentiated Instruction:
a) Participants will explore techniques for adapting teaching methods, curriculum, and assessments to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities, ensuring equitable access to education.

7) Assistive Technology:
a) This topic introduces participants to various assistive technologies available to support students with disabilities, empowering them to access educational materials, communicate effectively, and enhance their learning experience.

8) Positive Behavior Support:
a) Strategies for creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment will be covered, including proactive approaches to behavior management and fostering social-emotional development.

9) Collaboration and Teamwork:
a) Participants will learn how to establish effective partnerships with colleagues, parents, and support staff to ensure the holistic support and success of students with disabilities.

10) Creating Inclusive Learning Environments:
a) This topic focuses on practical strategies for designing physical spaces, arranging resources, and using visual supports to create inclusive and accessible classroom environments.

11) Social and Emotional Development:
a) Participants will gain insights into addressing the social and emotional needs of students with disabilities, fostering their active participation in social interactions and extracurricular activities.
