Director I, College Career Readiness
Gil Compton earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at the California State University, Long Beach, and his Teaching Credential, Administrative Credential, and a Master of Education at the University of California, Riverside. Mr. Compton’s career in education began 27 years ago as a high school teacher in Murrieta, California. In addition to teaching, Gil has served as a middle and high school assistant principal, middle and high school principal, and Assistant Superintendent of Personnel and Business Services. Gil joined the College and Career Readiness Unit at the Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) in 2017. RCOE serves over 430,000 students across 23 school districts. The Riverside County Office of Education College and the Career Readiness Unit was recently selected by the California Department of Education to provide assistance across the state to improve College and Career outcomes. Mr. Compton provides schools and districts training and coaching in the areas of Master Schedule design, High and Middle School Transcript Analysis, Measuring Student Learning project, AP teacher training, and Improvement Science strategies and projects. Prior to entering education, Mr. Compton served as an Infantry Officer with the 10th Mountain Division, US Army.
